Into the Moon’s Groove

A Solo Exhibition by Fendy Zakri

In this solo exhibition, Fendy Zakri elegantly revisits the moon’s enchanting visual and its profound role in the realm of faith and spirituality. As a universal symbol, the moon transcends boundaries, seamlessly interwoven throughout the tapestry of religion, art, literature, and diverse cultures. Its enduring presence in our lives is a poignant reminder of its universality, and the artist pays a heartfelt tribute to the lunar effect, recognizing the moon’s profound influence over all living beings.

What makes “Into the Moon’s Groove” even more poignant is its simultaneous exhibition in two vibrant cities, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, where 30 remarkable artworks find their home. This duality encapsulates the diversity of nationalities, currencies, and characters that grace the Causeway, yet beneath these differences, a common celestial entity, the moon, graces both cityscapes, uniting them under its timeless gaze.

Fendy Zakri masterfully infuses his current body of work with a profound sense of personal identity and significance. Each artwork in this series commences with the number 8, a subtle nod to the artist’s birth month, August, adding an extra layer of personal resonance to this already evocative collection.
