Moonlight Fragment

Solo Exhibition by Fendy Zakri

TAKSU Kuala Lumpur presents new works by emerging artist Fendy Zakri (b.1982) who is based in Kuala Lumpur. This solo exhibition marks Fendy’s 10 years anniversary as a full-time artist and his devotion to art.

Fendy Zakri is renowned by his artistic visualizer with a minimal approach to art which is translated into his latest series of work “Moonlight Fragment” that inhabits TAKSU Kuala Lumpur, comprising several large hanging artworks and a smaller size hanging artworks. The artworks are representations of Fendy’s own observation on nature – the sun and the moon.

As the viewer walks through the gallery, these individual artworks components present an underlying tone of poetry and nature. The use of the sun and moon imagery continues the artists’ interest in how nature can be simplified to its most minimal representation through a painting.

The mark/marking and tracing techniques enable the viewer to move between the different hues and to view them as an individual fragment. Fendy described this process as being like a ‘self-discovery’ – a journey to understand oneself. Fendy’s practice explores different colours and shapes and it is ever-presents in his artworks.
