TAKSU is thrilled to showcase the poetic artworks of Tony Twigg in his upcoming exhibition ‘the wisdom of infants’- featuring 6 works, 6-lined poems for each piece, tracing an observation of mythology through repetitive images.

Deciding on, or is it discovering what your work is about is one of the big questions facing an artist. Tony Twigg faced it while studying for his Masters of Arts Degree at the City Art Institute in Sydney during the 1980’s. He answered the question by inventing a story as the subject of his art making. Commenting in 1990 that –

“With the elapse of time, there are certain moments I’ve forgotten…The work is about how an idea grows as it is handed from person to person…I’m interested in how meanings change.”

‘the wisdom of infants’ as an exhibition is his 6th with TAKSU. Working in and moving through South East Asia between the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia, often travelling overland, offered Twigg an insight into the fragmented and disparate cultures of our region.
