Firdaus Ismail
b. Malaysia
As an artist who was inspired by a passage of anthologies and collection of literary, traditional and modern Malay poetry, he adapted it in a form of storytelling by incorporating complex images and figurative visuals in his artworks.
The artwork is a kind of self-reflection itself which is full of various feelings in the persons’ daily life. There are two types of favours that have plagued many people; which is healthy and leisure. However, people often forget because of it is the health that gives value to their life but they forget to appreciate the cost of it, thus become unaware that it is a vital part of their life.
Firdaus would like to emphasise in his work, one should take some time to reflect, looking into the reflection of the origin. The journey of the past and the future has its merits and possibilities. By knowing and understanding oneself, it will increase one’s consciousness to appreciate the only Almighty God who created such an event.
