Izzuddin Basiron

b. 1994, Malaysia

Izzuddin uses his work to visualise and reflect on the process of modernisation in Malaysia through its urban landscape.
Fascinated by the development and process of constructing buildings, Izzuddin employs vibrant colours as he captures a rapidly changing cityscape. Deconstructing detailed architecture into fragmented shapes and colours, he conveys a message of curiosity and complexity that is embedded in the spirit of modernisation and high-tech architecture. Intrigued by the impact of future metropolitan developments, he draws on what he sees in his everyday life in an attempt to visualise the progress of modernisation – what it is and what it could be.
Izzudin has been shown his work at various group shows across Malaysia. In 2023, his solo exhibition ‘Kota Kromatik’, was held in Kuala Lumpur. Izzudin’s work currently hangs on the walls of private collectors spanning Malaysia.
