Mark Lee See Teck

b. 1981, Malaysia

Born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Mark Lee is a renowned artist and film maker, holding a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from University of Southern Queensland, and a master’s in media studies from the University of Auckland. Currently pursuing a doctorate in Environmental Conservation at Universiti Putra Malaysia, Mark’s art is inspired by nature, and incorporates past, present, and future elements into his work.
With a painting style that is best described as contemporary and influenced by abstract expressionism, Mark delves deeply into the intricate marks and textures found in mother nature. A meticulous observer, his recent creations transcend mere depictions of exterior beauty, capturing the profound allure of nature’s interior within the confines of a single canvas. His artistic approach can be likened to possessing X-ray vision, revealing hidden depths beneath the surface shapes of nature, elevating the contemporary art experience to an exceptional level of uniqueness.
Mark has actively participated in solo shows, group exhibitions, and art fairs in places such as Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Singapore. His artworks have been exhibited across Malaysia; he recently put on his solo exhibition, ‘Rooting Marks’, in Kuala Lumpur. His most recent group exhibitions include, TAKSU Kuala Lumpur’s, ‘Locals Only! 2024’, and ‘Petals of Nationalism’ in 2022. Mark’s distinct style has led to his work being sought after and featured in public as well as private collections.
