b. 1950, Australia
Rob Manning did his formal art training in Melbourne, Australia. His initial career began in the creative side of advertising, and then he progressed to work in fashion photography. These areas gave him a very firm grounding in the fine and decorative arts.
He then moved on to opening his own gallery, Manning & Manning, which he ran successfully for twenty years. He was importing and exporting art globally, exhibiting art, and also working on his own projects. He has a large body of work, which has been commissioned privately both in Australia and internationally.
He spent a large part of his career working and living in France, and is consequently inspired by all the modern artists – Brancusi, Picasso, Braque, Matisse, amongst many others. These have informed his work, together with contemporary American abstract artists, Ellsworth Kelly and Cy Twombly.
He is currently exhibiting in galleries both in Australia and Singapore, and has recently been working in France on a new collection of works. He is presently working with Taksu gallery in Singapore, on art projects and with an upcoming solo show in 2018. He currently lives between, Singapore, Australia and France.
