Rob Manning
b. 1950, Australia
Rob Manning did his formal art training in Melbourne, Australia. His initial career began in the creative side of advertising, and then he progressed to work in fashion photography. These areas gave him a very firm grounding in the fine and decorative arts.
He spent a large part of his career working and living in France and is consequently inspired by all the modern artists – Brancusi, Picasso, Braque, Matisse, amongst many others. These have informed his work, together with contemporary American abstract artists, Ellsworth Kelly and Cy Twombly.
He currently lives between, Singapore, Australia and France.
