Syakir Hashim

Born in Taiping, Perak, Syakir Hashim derives inspiration from the natural world and personal experience. Holding a master’s of fine art and technology from UiTM Malaysia, Syakir also engages in writing and teaching.
With an artistic portfolio spanning multiple disciplines, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and video art, Syakir forms connections with materials, incorporating these elements into his artwork to create a visual narrative. In his compelling artwork, Syakir masterfully portrays the trapped, inverted, and unresolved figure, symbolising the dire consequences of the growing rift between humanity and the natural world. It serves as a stark reminder that unchecked deforestation and rampant modernisation imperil not just wildlife but humanity itself. The artwork stands as a poignant reflection of our actions, echoing the age-old adage: “We reap what we sow.”
Over the span of his career Syakir has participated in exhibitions across Malaysia. Additionally his has completed murals across Kuala Lumpur, showcasing his unique voice.
