Tresyah Join received her education a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UiTM Malaysia. Being from northern Borneo, Tresyah’s work focuses on socio-cultural issues as she has always been fascinated by the beauty of her indigenous tribe.
Tresyah uses the forest in the paintings as a metaphor for life, with the collages exploring uncertainty and the unpredictable nature of life. Despite their chaotic and disorganised appearance, her paintings showcase the beauty of life’s challenges as Tresyah believes that rough patches we go through should be viewed not as failures, but rather, as steps towards success and goals. Skilfully crafting spontaneous collages, she creates landscapes with contradicting depths, resulting in a final piece that is both beautiful and ugly, as is life with all its complexities.
Tresyah’s works have been exhibited in several Malaysian galleries at group exhibitions including, ‘Nyawiji’, ‘Emergent II’, and ‘SHE’, among others; in 2024 she was selected for TAKSU Kuala Lumpur’s, ‘Locals Only! 2024’ exhibition, with her works being met with a very enthusiastic response from private collectors.
