Wednesday Lim

b. 2000, Malaysia

Hailing from the vibrant city of Kuala Lumpur, Lim Xin Yi, also known as Wednesday, is a distinguished artist who holds a Diploma in Fine Arts from Dasein Academy of Art.
Her artistry, depicted in disquieting figurative paintings, seldom unfolds a clear storyline. Within her canvases, characters exist in a perilous dance, oscillating between danger, struggle, and seduction, ultimately delivering a sombre commentary on the human condition. Creating haunting scenes with idiosyncratic detail, Wednesday’s inspiration comes from exploring her fears, desires, and dreams, which reflect pain and uneasiness. She now views nightmares as a source of inspiration, allowing her to explore her inner feelings through art and learn more about herself through her dreams and nightmares.
As a growing artist, she has participated in group shows across Malaysia. Most recently she was a featured artist for the annual “Locals Only! 2024” exhibition held at TAKSU Kuala Lumpur which featured up and coming as well as established Malaysian artists. Her work is also hung in the public collection at UR-MU. As a rising artist in the contemporary Malaysian art scene, her work has begun to catch the eye of private collectors.
