Aqil Zulkeri

b. 1996, Malaysia

Born in the peaceful village of Temerloh, Pahang, Aqil graduated from UiTM Malaysia with a degree in Fine Arts.

Aqil’s work revolves around the subject of self-love and being unapologetically yourself. Mirroring his own personal practice of non-attachment, adopted as a means to love oneself unapologetically, Aqil’s work utilises artistic practices that are anchored in freedom and expression, leaning into his heart’s callings, visions, and desires. Aqil explores various materials and mediums that allow him to challenge his fears, as well as society’s expectations, with “happy accidents” being confidently celebrated and embedded in his final works.

As a young emerging Malaysian artist, Aqil has participated in several exhibitions both regionally and internationally. In 2020, Aqil participated in the online exhibition, ‘Embodiment’,  at TAKSU Singapore.
