Fairuz Paisan (b. 1981, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia), known as Po’Oi, is a contemporary sculptor who blends traditional craftsmanship with Art Deco influences. A Master’s graduate from UiTM, his practice explores the contrast between appearance and reality by pairing fiberglass, representing external beauty, with wood, symbolising inner essence. His work is celebrated for its technical precision, vibrant colour, and quiet emotional resonance.
In 2025, Po’Oi represented Malaysia at the World Expo in Osaka, with several works acquired by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI). That same year, his solo exhibition, “I AM PO OI 3.0”, debuted at Art Central Hong Kong. His recent series, Circle Within a Circle and Seeds, utilize automotive paint and inlaid wood to investigate themes of identity, repetition, and heritage. Through these sculptural narratives, Po Oi continues to bridge the gap between personal memory and contemporary culture.
