Life Aftermath Afterlife
Solo Exhibition by Arturo (Art) Sanchez Jr.
TAKSU Singapore is pleased to present Arturo (Art) Sanchez Jr’s solo exhibition with a new series of work.
In 2007, Sanchez graduated with a B.Sc. in Architecture at the Technological Institute of The Philippines. He has exhibited in the National Museum of the Philippines, the Metropolitan Museum of the Philippines and was the recipient of the Sangguniang Bayan Award in 2015.
Art Sanchez’s upcoming solo exhibition in Singapore showcases an intriguing art installation and a new series of collages—images from books, magazines, brochures & photographs with acrylic encased in clear resin. His work is a depiction of human behaviour; a collage of haunting images that form layers of shifting narratives.
Working with collage is one of the most liberating mediums for Sanchez. Creating layers and compositions that deliver his desired intent, unlike resin which is a variable material. As Sanchez puts it; ‘ One can create a lot of things from it. The combination of the two mediums gives a certain depth that other materials cannot achieve.’
Sanchez’ art is a reflection of the issues that surround him; his response to scenarios that have left a mark on his everyday existence.
The opening reception commences on
5th December, Thursday, from 7.00 PM to 10.00 PM with the artist present.
The exhibition runs from 5th December 2019 until 5th January 2020
