Connie Man Wing Leung

b. Hong Kong

Connie is influenced by Pineke Dijksta’s photography, the sublime portraits of Hans Holbein and Paolo Uccello and the precision of classical painting. She deliberately defies the norms of the contemporary art world by employing good old-fashioned oil painting technique in her series of hyper-realistic works on the subject of dogs, whose individual personalities she finds to be genuinely human.
Calculatedly arranged, aloof, commanding in nature, yet visually appealing and trendy in the style of cosmopolitan North American living, these series of bulldogs & chihuahuas are a body of work that isn’t about painting a genre of dog portrait but rather a deliberation to depict the experience of isolation and an eyebrow-raising subject such as dogs.
Connie lives and works in California, U.S.A
