Hirzaq Harris
b. 1987, Malaysia
With a degree from UiTM Malaysia in Fine Arts, and a background in sculptural training, Hirzaq Harris’ work draws from his own experiences of the world as well as history.
Utilizing popular iconography of vintage stamps, Hirzaq’s work conveys narratives rooted in various cultures and histories. With clean and precise lines and meticulous technique, Hirzaq’s work displays a somewhat graphic style, communicating stories in a striking, direct way.
Since 2007, Hirzaq has participated in numerous group exhibitions, holding his first solo exhibition in 2014. His most recent group exhibitions include, ‘Faith II’, and ‘JIWA’ in Kuala Lumpur. He has attended residency programs including, Nafa’s Art Residency program in Yogyakarta from 2012 to 2013. In terms of accolades, he was awarded 1st place at the Ritma Johor ll’, and 2nd at Maybank’s 2010 art competition. His work has been well-received by public and private collectors across Malaysia.
