Irsyad Maktar

b.1989, Malaysia

Ahmad Irsyaduddin Maktar was born in Setiu, Terengganu & currently works and is based in Selangor, Malaysia. He graduated with a Diploma in Chemical engineering from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Penang in 2010 and he pursued a Bachelor (Hons) in Fine art (majoring Sculpture) at Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam, Selangor in 2013. He works as an assistant sculptor and also graphic designer.
Since 2001, he has worked as an assistant sculptor in the artist’s workshop at Shah Alam on public sculpture commission projects. Indirectly, become a sculptor’s apprentice. Irsyaduddin’s   practice explore and works relies on precise mathematical calculation. He fascination on the intersection math, science and art by using a modular form as the basic of design. The joining together standardized units to new complex form.
He received the invitation for the 2nd International Marble Art Camp (2021) at Langkawi, Kedah, organized by the National Art Gallery Langkawi. He was also selected for a 60-day Artist in Residency at RAG Studio in Selangor. His selected group exhibitions include, Shah Alam Open Exhibition (2023), Shah Alam Gallery, Selangor; Imposing Dimension (2022), China house Art Gallery, Penang; Unformal (2022), KL City Art Gallery, Kuala Lumpur; New Norm New Form (2022), Jalak Art Initiative Gallery, Kuala Lumpur; Ilham VIII: Journey (2014), Pelita Hati Gallery, Bangsar; Finalist MEA Award (2013), WhiteBox, Map@Publika, Kuala Lumpur.
