Loqman Zainal
b. 1995, Malaysia
Currently residing in Kuala Lumpur, with a diploma and BA in Fine Art from UiTM, Malaysia, Loqman’s work revolves around the tranquility and serenity of nature.
With most of his work involving nature – seascapes, paddy fields, and flowers – he deliberately attempts to grow closer to nature through his work. Influenced by his interest photography, Loqman’s artistic process combines melding both reality and imagination, taking pictures of landscapes and reworking the perspective, adding elements such as lines, colour, forms, and texture to craft poetic and romantic paintings.
Loqman’s artistic journey so far has seen him as a valued contributor to various group exhibitions, including notable events such as ‘Miniprint (KLIMEX)’ at Balai Seni Negara in 2018, ‘LAKARAN KERTAS’ group exhibition in 2023, abd ‘Locals Only!’ at TAKSU in 2021 and 2024, among others. In 2022, Loqman achieved a significant milestone by showcasing his inaugural solo exhibition, marking a remarkable chapter in his artistic evolution. Loqman’s work has also been met with warm reception, being collected by public and private clients; his work can be found in the permanent collection of Mandarin Oriental in Singapore.
