Reg Yuson
b. 1978, Philippines
Reg Yuson graduated from the University of the Philippines and is one of the Philippines’ leading contemporary artists. Known for his conceptual sculptures and commitment to public art, Reg extends his sculptures beyond gallery walls, transforming public spaces with large-scale installations that explore tension, gravity, and perception.
In 2003, Reg was honoured the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Thirteen Artists Award. He has consistently exhibited in solo and group shows both in the Philippines and abroad, his works can be seen in prominent public spaces: the Philippine Stock Exchange, the South Park District in Muntinlupa City, and the Renaissance Harbour View in Hong Kong.
Reg’s latest series, Nimbus, was born during the pandemic while living near the volcanic uplands of Alfonso. There, surrounded by nature and constrained by limited industrial materials, he turned to the primordial elements of his environment—volcanic rock, boulders, and flowing water—as both medium and metaphor. In Nimbus, clouds are reimagined in solid form, suspended above ground by delicate steel rods, speaking to the quiet forces of gravity, erosion, and transformation.
